Leason F Pomeroy III

After graduating with degrees in both Architecture and Fine Art, Leason founded his architectural practice, LPA, Inc., in Orange County, California, where he was born and raised.  Under his 40 years of leadership, the practice grew to become one of the largest firms in California, it received over 300 major design awards including the coveted “Firm Award” in 1990 as the outstanding design firm in California, and was responsible for major projects such as the Orange County John Wayne Airport.

In 1999 Leason completed a residence for the best-selling author Dean Koontz and his wife.  “ The experience of working intimately with a private client on their home was so rewarding to me that I sold my large corporate design firm and founded LP3 Architecture to concentrate my design efforts on more personal custom homes and other more private commissions.”

Passionate for his life’s work, Leason is dedicated to creating some of the most breathtaking architecture along the Southern California coast.  “My architecture comes from a respectful relationship with the client… we both have equal input on the project and grow the design together.”  Never imposing his ingrained Modernist style, the relationship naturally begins with a joint appreciation for the contemporary architectural genre.

Through careful site analysis, he studies sun orientation, views and wind patterns, and then does an extensive diagram based on the integration of the building program and the opportunities and constraints of the site.  “The Southern California climate can cast a spell on you.  It releases you and provides you with freedom, freedom to open the plan of a house and a house to its site.  I believe that architecture is a noble art and nothing is more noble than creating a beautiful home.”
